Valuable News – 2023/02/13

The Valuable News weekly series is dedicated to provide summary about news, articles and other interesting stuff mostly but not always related to the UNIX or BSD systems. Whenever I stumble upon something worth mentioning on the Internet I just put it here.

Today the amount information that we get using various information streams is at massive overload. Thus one needs to focus only on what is important without the need to grep(1) the Internet everyday. Hence the idea of providing such information ‘bulk’ as I already do that grep(1).

Accurately named or not, I love the fact that transparent aluminum is a thing. And knowing the whole story makes it even cooler.

In unrelated news, why is it that in 2023 we still have to justify running alternate operating systems, be they BSD or anything else? Funny how Windows users continue to be the most insecure of all even while clinging to it.

I really liked that concept (Transparent Aluminum) when I first watched that oldschool Star trek movie more then a decade ago πŸ™‚

About that Windows thing … I probably live in a UNIX/Linux/Open Source bubble anyway – so not much Windows propaganda for me. To be honest I am really glad that I finally went full ‘self host’ mode when configured printing on FreeBSD. Feels so much better to NOT rely on anything else :]

      Regards.

W Firefox zawsze zostaje mi w historii 24,0 KB on disk. Czy jest jakiś sposób aby to całkowicie usuwać po nowym uruchomieniu przeglądarki? Próbowałem różnych ustawień i zawsze zostaje tam 24,0 KB lub 11 KB.
